Major Milestone for Schuler
Schuler Press, the leading manufacturer of coin production equipment, has reached a major milestone with the sale this month of its 1,000th high performance minting press.
Schuler has been producing coin presses since 1870. The prototype of its first high performance press went into operation at the State Mints of Baden-Württemberg 37 years ago. This latest order, for the 150-ton MRH line, is going to the Bavarian State Mint and will be delivered in November.
‘Cash continues to enjoy great popularity as a means of payment’, said Dieter Merkle, Director Global Minting. ‘The latest order confirms our long experience in this field’.
The press is of horizontal design and is employed exclusively for high speed volume minting of round coins, up to 850 per minute. The Bavarian State Mint, one of five mints in Germany, currently produces up to 1 billion of these a year on a total of 17 high-performance Schuler lines, making it responsible for more than one fifth of the German euro coins in circulation.
Schuler's high performance minting presses also include vertical MRV lines, which are suitable for the production of multi-sided coins, as well as bi-metal and tri-metal coins in a single operation.
