The Mexican President has nominated his finance minister and economist Arturo Herrera Gutiérrez as the next Governor of the Bank of Mexico, to replace the incumbent, Alejandro Díaz de León, whose mandate is not being renewed.
The Central Bank of Belize has announced that former IMF official Gustavo Manuel Vasquez has been appointed as its new Governor, replacing Joy Grant.
The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, Khalid Muhammad Salem Balam Tameemi, has been promoted to Governor. He succeeds Abdul Hamid Muhammad Saeed Al-Ahmadi, who was only in the post one year.
Gediminas Šimkus is the new Governor of Lietvos Bank (the Bank of Lithuania), replacing Vitas Vasiliauskas, who had served two five-year terms.
Hazem Younes Karfoul has been dismissed as Governor of the Central Bank of Syria by the President. His replacement is one his former deputies, Issam Hazima.
Hamid Pour-Mohammadi has been appointed as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), replacing Abdolnasser Hemmati, who was one of the candidates in the recent presidential election.
Yamana Norio has been appointed the new President of Japan Mint, taking over from Kawashima Makoto. He joins from the Ministry of Finance, where he has worked since 1987 and where, prior to his appointment to the Mint, he was Deputy Director General of the Minister’s Secretariat.
Johannes Schaede, Technical Director of Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions, has been elected to the Board of Orell Füssli Security Printing. Board member Dr Martin Folini has been elected the new Chairman of the Board, following the retirement of Anton Bleikolm.
