CBDC Conference Update
The Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) conference has now moved wholly online on 4-6 October 2021. Registration is now open.
Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is a much-discussed topic and several central banks have launched pilot projects or implemented a CBDC. CBDCs sit at the intersection of finance, policy/regulation and technology. There is a lot of learning going on and CBDCs represent a major change for all.
Given this complexity and rate of development, this conference is an opportunity to understand, learn and exchange ideas. The CBDC Conference was created and designed to meet these requirements.
The conference will consider CBDCs from different viewpoints: that of central banks, retail banks, the law, technology and, finally, policymakers. There are over 40 confirmed speakers and more will follow in the coming weeks.
The organisers have also announced the date for the 2022 event, which will be in-person on 28-30 August 2022.

The agenda of WBS 2021 will analyse issues related to the production and circulation management of banknotes, the role of banknotes as a form of payment today and in the future, alternative payment methods, the challenges caused by external factors, eg. COVID-19, and more.
The WBS has a reputation for an innovative format designed to encourage exchange and interaction between delegates. The conference speaks to all stakeholders involved in cash and the cash cycle from central banks to suppliers, whether involved in policy or operations.
