Beyond Traditions – Future in Security Printing

Jura held a number of workshops on 5-6 October in Budapest as part of the newly-launched Jura Academy. This was one of the first physical events where customers and suppliers travelled to come together for the first time in the last 18 months or so, and representatives were in attendance from Austria, Czech Republic, France, Lithuania, Germany, Netherlands, Slovenia, Oman, Yemen, UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK and, of course, Hungary itself.

Jura used the event to announce the launch of the 3rd generation of its flagship Corvina software, demonstrating all new tools and features incorporated in the newest version. Several workshops and presentations took place to present new and fast way to create banknote or passport designs.

Discussions were also held on the hardware solutions Jura is able to provide for the high security industry in order to cover the physical side of a pre-press workflow. Significant interest has also been shown in Jura’s Direct Laser Engraver (DLE) technology.

It became apparent to all attendees that Jura has transferred its position from a software developer company into a complete high security pre-press solution supplier.

The workshops were practical and aimed at the designers and business professionals who use it day by day.

In the Corvina Engraver session, presentations were made on the new features of the software, including the use of the application and of the new tools and features in a much more effective way, along with open discussions on new ideas under development.

Another session looked into Jura’s move into digital security printing, with a review of innovative digitally printed features and samples for high security. It was clear that a different approach is needed for digital security printing compared with conventional printing methods.

The event ended with a dinner on an evening boat trip on the river Danube, where it was announced that this would become a regular event and the beginning of the Jura Academy.
