Dr Ásgeir Jónsson has been appointed as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, taking over from Már Guðmundsson.
The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Akbar Komijani, has been promoted to Governor. He replaces Abdonasser Hemmati, who was dismissed in June following his run for presidential office.
Øystein Olsen, Governor of Norges Bank, has announced he will retire next February, a year before his second term is due to end.
Former Finance Minister Alberto Carrasquilla has been appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Colombia, replacing Carolina Soto.
The Sri Lankan President has appointed Ajith Nivard Cabraal to lead the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, after the incumbent – WD Lakshman – resigned.
The Central Bank of Chile has appointed Beltrán de Ramón to the role of General Manager, responsible for day-to-day operations. He replaces Alejandro Zurbuchen Silva, who has retired.
The Central Bank of Belize has announced the resignation of the Governor, Gustavo Manuel Vasquez, just four months after he took up the position. The Bank expects to name his successor shortly.
Christopher Mvunga, Governor of the Bank of Zambia, has resigned, after less than a year in office. His deputy, Francis Chipimo, has been designated to serve as Acting Governor.
The Taliban has announced that Mohammad Idris will become the Acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank.
The US Treasury Department has announced the resignation of David Ryder, effective 1 October. He was appointed as 39th Director in 2018, having previously served as 34th Director from 1992-93. Alison Doone, who has been the Mint’s Chief Administrative Officer since March 2021, will take over his duties as Acting Director.
Following its AGM, the International Currency Association has elected three new Board members – Sam Keayes (Crane Currency), Etienne Couëlle (Oberthur Fiduciaire) and Roberto Salgari (Parvis). They replace Phil Holland (Komori), Peter Mühlfelder (Kurz) and Barna Barabas (JURA), who have stepped down. In addition, Gianni Santori (SICPA) has replaced Jean Yves Ray on the Board.
Sam Keayes has been elected as Treasurer, whilst Eric Boissonnas (Koenig & Bauer) and Wolfram Seidemann (Giesecke+Devrient) were reappointed as Deputy Chairman and Chairman respectively.
The other Board members include Ruth Euling (De La Rue), Malcolm McDowell (Note Printing Australia), and Dieter Merkle (Schuler Group).
Kristi Browne has been appointed the new Chief Operating Officer at Authentix. She previously served as Senior Vice President of Global Services, and will be responsible for management of the company’s four primary business units, which include Currency.
