White Nights for HSP EMEA 2022
The last major industry event to take place before COVID hit was High Security Printing™ (HSP) EMEA, which was held in Lisbon in March 2020 and from which delegates hastily departed to beat border closures, never imagining that it would be two years before the industry could come back together again.
There are no such worries for the latest HSP EMEA, which opens it doors from 13-15 June in Tallinn in Estonia, renowned at that time of year for its ‘White Nights’ when the sun scarcely sets.
The event will open with a series of pre-conference seminars on 13 June, two of which are dedicated to currency.
The first will be on ‘Reducing the Environmental Impact of Cash’. It will feature a number of speakers from the cash cycle sharing best practice on how they are reducing the impact of their products and processes, along with new solutions to support the circular economy.
The second, run by counterfeit expert Duncan Reid, is on the subject of ‘Going Inside Counterfeiting Print Shops’. Using open source intelligence, this interactive seminar will develop an understanding of the equipment and materials used in counterfeiting operations.
The conference will be formally opened by Estonia’s Minister of the Interior, Kristjan Jaani. Following the first session on ‘A Review of the Secure Document Landscape’, the programme will be split into two parallel tracks – one focusing on currency and the other on travel and identity documents.
Over 40 presentations will be delivered over the two days, with four dedicated sessions covering regional currency developments, design and production, printing and finishing process, and cash of the future. On the final afternoon, delegates will come back together again for a special session and panel discussion on ‘Design and Production of Security Documents through Digital Print’.
An exhibition of some 25 companies will be held as part of the event. The event will play host to prestigious Regional Banknote and Regional ID Document of the Year awards and, immediately afterwards will be the popular and highly competitive HSP Football Match.
