CMA Picks ONE 2.1
Casa de Moneda Argentina (CMA) is in the midst of a technology transformation programme involving the recruitment and training of new staff, modernisation of both its production facilities and the acquisition of new equipment, among them the latest SPARK Flow® module for the NotaScreen. It has also invested in an upgrade of Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions’ ONE design software to the latest 2.1 version.
CMA has around 1,400 employees and produces not only banknotes, but also passports, ID cards, car plates and circulation licences, as well as coins and medals.
Its design and pre-press team has been working with the ONE Suite for many years. But with several challenging projects in the works (including a redesign of Argentina’s currency), CMA is reported as needing a more modern design and pre-press solution that will allow for more automation and flexibility, a more integrated workflow, and greater artistic capabilities and user-friendliness.
ONE Security comprises several modules such as special rasters, crystal patterns, geometrics, image calligraphy, medal, raster, and image CTiP. In addition, it enables the execution of the entire design and assembly process on one platform, enabling swift transition from design to output.
It was first launched over 20 years ago, since when there have been several updates. The latest, 2.1, was released earlier this year. It has a new graphic user interface and improved application usability, offering more direct control. New modules include Color Check quality management, a Functional Layout Check and an Object Library of ‘smart defaults’ to help users when starting new designs.
As part of its modernisation, CMA has also created a new department for digital development to explore digital currencies and new technology related to digital certification and authentication for traceability and ID products.
