ICCOS Asia is Back
The Asia Cash Cycle Seminar returns to its live and in person format, after a three-year hiatus, taking place 5-7 September in Manila, 10 years after it was last held in the Philippines.
Whilst so much has changed since the last gathering in Colombo in September 2019, the need for the industry’s stakeholders to meet face to face, to share their experiences, to reconnect and plan for the future of cash has not.
With input from Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the agenda addresses the entire cash cycle to enhance planning and execution of strategies to ensure the efficiency and optimisation of cash, whilst addressing the challenges of an ever digitalising payments world.
The first day will see the return of the popular Central Bank Summit, where peers gather to discuss issues such as choice of substrates, recycling, industry regulation, sustainability, coin recirculation and more.
Also, Currency Research will deliver ‘Payments for Cash Professionals’ training on behalf of the Asia Cash Management Association.
The formal seminar begins the following day with a welcome address by BSP, followed by the event’s traditional Global Trends in Cash and Payments Panel, in which several regional central banks will update delegates on the past three years and thoughts on the future trends for cash.
This will be followed by a panel addressing the key issue of sustainability and how the cash industry stepping up to the challenge.
The final plenary session will investigate the essential question of driving efficiency and optimisation in the cash cycle.
The final day will start with a keynote speech from the Bundesbank on how it managed banknotes affected by the severe summer floods of 2021. This will be followed by a special panel moderated by the Asia Cash Management Association, bringing together a panel of experts to discuss how to keep cash relevant in an increasingly digital payments world.
The final two plenary sessions will look at highly topical issues that may impact the future use of cash - with a panel session examining Financial Inclusion and the Role of Cash, and concluding with a panel discussion on CBDCs, what are they, and what will be their relation to cash.
