New Expert Counterfeit Service for Currency

Renowned counterfeit expert Kerre Corbin has set up Kerrency Ltd – a new independent consultancy for the banknote industry to provide guidance and training to central banks, police agencies, commercial banks and security industry companies on counterfeiting issues.

Until recently, Kerre was a counterfeit expert with De La Rue, where for five years she was responsible for the forensic examinations requested by De La Rue customers, for the analysis of new security features and designs, and for providing training to over 100 law enforcement agencies, government institutions and banking organisations throughout the world.

Prior to that, she was a Counterfeit Specialist with the United States Secret Service Criminal Investigative Division in Washington, DC, where she spent 12 years conducting forensic examinations on US currency and classifying counterfeit banknotes.

Kerrency will offer two core services.

First is a range of courses and workshops, tailored to specific customer needs, for commercial banks, CITs and central banks. Topics covered will include Know Your Money, printing processes, counterfeiting and detection, expert witness preparation and statistics and trends.

Second, she will be offering consultancy services that include:

  • Examining counterfeit banknotes and issuing technical reports

  • Reviewing new security features to determine the counterfeiting risks

  • Evaluating banknote designs to enhance the counterfeit resiliency

  • Assisting in creating forensic laboratories to examine counterfeit banknotes.

Commenting on the foundation of Kerrency, Kerre said: ‘I think it is important for central banks to have access to an impartial counterfeit expert service. This service is provided independent of any company or country bias. I look forward to sharing my unique experience and knowledge with you.’

Kerre will also be contributing a new regular monthly column to Currency News™ – Counterfeit Corner.
