What to Do with Banknotes at End of Life?
As part of its Cash & Payments Sustainability Forum initiative, on 5 April Reconnaissance International will be joined in the first of a series of online seminars looking at end-of-life solutions for banknotes by FedCash® Services, Pakistan Security Printing Corporation and Giesecke+Devrient to talk about different ways of disposing of unfit cotton banknotes.
The aim is to provide useful, practical information on what is being done today and how to move higher up the disposal hierarchy. Knowing what is possible and where to start can feel difficult and this is to help attendees consider new options.
The seminars follow on from the white paper ‘What Goes Round Comes Round’, which investigated the science of waste disposal, what central banks do today and where to start if you want to do something different.
A second seminar will be held on 26 April, where speakers who have been exploring more innovative approaches to banknote disposal will present – Blend Paper, Oberthur, BioBanknote, Kusters Engineering and Landqart.
The series will be rounded off in May with a third seminar on the disposal of polymer waste.
