China Invests in Inspection and Platemaking

China Banknote Designing and Engraving Co (CBDE), part of the family of companies belonging to China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation (CBPM), has brand-new inspection and platemaking systems to meet increasing innovation requirements and demand.

CBDE, founded in 2001 with the approval of the People’s Bank of China, is a state-owned high-tech enterprise specialising in currency design and plate-making services.

Its high speed offset/intaglio printing plate quality inspection equipment with multi-functional inspection system has been developed to inspect plates quickly and conveniently. According to CBDE, the system has superior defect detection capabilities based on a high-resolution imaging system, efficient image processing algorithms, high-precision motion control systems, high freedom of automation modelling and artificial intelligence classification.

The first equipment was developed in 2012. In 2014 and 2015, the rapid quality inspection system for both offset and intaglio printing were developed based on the first sample equipment.
