Hueck Folien Moves Ahead with Optomove

Hueck Folien, a family owned company based in Baumgartenberg, Austria has been supplying security products – initially security threads, followed by holographic/diffractive stripes – to the banknote industry for 35 years.

In 2019, the company launched a new technology, Trilumic®, developed in conjunction with the Banque de France for holographic stripes. In 2021 the Trilumic product range was extended further with the launch of Trilumic threads. Examples of these UV based products can be found in the Cambodia 15,000 and 20,000 riel commemorative banknotes and, soon, on a first banknote thread in circulation.

Optomove® is the latest development product from Hueck Folien. It was launched recently at the Intergraf Currency+Identity Conference in Bilbao, followed at the beginning of December at the High Security Printing Asia conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

It is a micro-optical ColorSwitch™ security thread which combines strong moving images with a brilliant colour switch. The feature is based on unique micro-optical free-form elements and is highly visible in any light from any viewing angle.

According to the company, as well as being exceptionally bright, Optomove is also highly colourful. It is available in different dynamic designs and in six ColorSwitch colour shades based on high precision thin film technology.

Optomove can be combined to advantage with Cleartext, all magnetic readable codings, as well as UV and Trilumic technologies.

The technology offers great flexibility in both the thread’s design and in the combination of security features within the thread, says the company.
