  • The Banknote Ethics Initiative (BnEI) has announced the appointment of Prof Deon Rossouw, the CEO of The Ethics Institute in South Africa, as its new Chairman. He takes up his new position in October.

According to the BnEI, Prof Rossouw is a distinguished leader in the field of ethics and corporate governance, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as Chairman.

Prof Rossouw will succeed Antti Heinonen, who has been the Chairman of BnEI since its launch in 2013. The BnEI noted that Antti’s leadership and dedication have played a significant role in establishing BnEI as a respected authority in promoting ethical practices within the banknote industry.

  • Helder Lopes has been appointed the new Governor of the Central Bank of Timor-Leste. He was previously Vice Minister of Finance, and succeeds Abrão de Vasconcelos.

  • Singapore’s government has announced that Ravi Menon will step down as Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, to be replaced by Chia Der Jiun.

  • Olayemi Michael Cardoso, a banking executive and former civil servant, has been nominated by the President as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. If confirmed, he will replace Godwin Emefiele, who was suspended in June and resigned last month.

  • The Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Galymzhan Pirmatov, has been removed from office and his deputy, Timur Suleimenov, named as his successor.

  • Carlos Carvallo Spalding has been appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Paraguay, succeeding José Cantero Sienra, who has stepped down after completing his five year term.

  • Chea Serey succeeds her father as Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, the first woman to hold the position.

  • Natali Garic has joined the Banknote Sales Team at Leonhard Kurz as Regional Sales Director. Formerly with De La Rue, she will look after Kurz customers worldwide with a special focus on Africa and Europe.

  • Meta Materials has announced the appointment of Mark Spencer as Senior Vice President (SVP) of Product and Design for its Authentication division. Mark joins from De La Rue, where he was Senior Product Manager.
