Revealing Plans for EQUINOX24 – One Piece at a Time

Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions (KBBS) has launched its EQUINOX24 global event, which will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland from 20 May to 14 June 2024.

In so doing, the company is using an interesting approach to engage with customers and maximise registrations. The invitation process consists of 10 pieces of the EQUINOX24 specimen banknote that are progressively revealed, month-by-month, between now and May 2024, when the event actually begins. Each piece of the EQUINOX24 specimen puzzle contains a video invitation by a member of the KBBS team, giving a ‘sneak-peak’ into what you can expect to discover during the event.

The company states that ‘EQUINOX 2024 is all about framing your vision for the future of banknotes and developing your roadmap to get there. We aim to start a new conversation around the future of banknotes; what they will look like, how will they be produced and what role they will play in society to create value for all cash ecosystem stakeholders?’ 

According to Mark Stevenson, KBBS Market Development Manager, ‘EQUINOX 2024 marks the beginning of a new dialogue between a wider range of stakeholders who will ultimately define what the future of banknotes will look like. We will break down traditional silos, address the real issues having an impact on cash demand, and demonstrate how banknote production plays an important role in creating more efficient and sustainable cash cycles.

‘For this precise reason,’ he continued, ‘we are opening our doors at EQUINOX24 not only to banknote and high security printers, but to the wider cash community, including central banks and other cash ecosystem actors.’

The theme of EQUINOX24 is ‘Value Creation’. KBBS has directly aligned its entire business model with this principle and the event is its showcase to move from the ‘what’ to the ‘how’ and demonstrate that value creation is the only sustainable and pragmatic way to build the future of cash in any nation. Moreover, value creation goes far beyond printing and more than ever, involves the coming together of the banknote product and the cash cycle to create the cash ecosystem.
