Banknote Conference 2026 – Nearing Record Highs

One of the currency industry’s premier global gatherings opens in Washington DC in little over a month. To be held from 11-14 May in the US capital, Banknote Conference 2026 will seek to reaffirm its reputation as arguably the leading technical forum devoted exclusively to banknote production, design, security, and circulation.

Held biennially and hosted and organised by Currency Research, the Banknote Conference will once again welcome a cross-section of industry stakeholders and experts – from central banks and technology suppliers to state and commercial printworks, academics, and more – to shape the ever-evolving future of physical currency.

Guided by the theme of ‘Innovating the Future of Banknotes: Balancing Sustainability, Security and Trust in the Cash Cycle’, this latest edition of Banknote will focus on the most pressing concerns facing the world’s issuing authorities. Topics to be explored include sustainable production and substrate strategy, advanced security features and inspection technologies, smart banknote integration, counterfeit resilience, cash’s role in an increasingly digital payments environment, and many others.
