Tenders, Contracts and MOUs
- The Bank of Uganda has issued a bid notice for a proof of concept (PoC) for currency processing machines. The PoC will run for a period of up to a maximum of three months and aims to evaluate the capabilities, reliability, and operational performance of the machines in a live currency processing environment.
Currency processing is a core function of the Bank and is undertaken at its head offices
in line with internationally-accepted central bank management practices in order to ensure banknotes and coins in circulation are adequate in quantity, good in quality, and secure. Functions include currency issuance, sorting and authentication, counterfeit detection and handling, destruction of unfit currency, coin processing, packaging and storage, distribution, and quality.
The Bank is looking for low-, mid- and high-speed banknote counters and sorters, coin processing and wrapping machines, and coin crushing machines.
The deadline is 16 April 2026.
The Bank has also issued an EOI for the provision of consultancy services for a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Again, the deadline is 16 April.
