  • The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has issued a new 10 rufiyaa banknote bearing the new symbol for the Maldivian rufiyaa. Apart from the inclusion of the new symbol, which appears on both sides of the note – alongside the face value at the top left on the front and the top right on the reverse – the banknote remains unchanged from earlier versions. The 2015 and 2018 releases of the 10 rufiyaa note do not feature the rufiyaa symbol, though both the original and updated versions will co-circulate.

The new denomination brings the MMA’s symbol integration programme close to completion. The 50 rufiyaa polymer note was the first to carry the symbol, introduced in November 2022, followed by the 100 rufiyaa note in January 2025. The 20 rufiyaa note with the new symbol was confirmed in February. All notes in the current series are printed by De La Rue on polymer substrate.
