Industry Watch – a Review of the Share Price of the Quoted Companies in Currency
We invariably cover the financial results of the public (listed) companies in our sector, certainly annually and sometimes their interim results too, as a means of taking the temperature of the industry. To supplement this is Industry Watch, now published annually rather than quarterly, which specifically looks at their share prices over the period of the preceding year.
Since, almost without exception, the company results of quoted companies are not published until February or March at the earliest, the share prices and market values at the beginning of January 2026 have been compared with those one year earlier, ie. at the beginning of January 2025.
The decline in Crane NXT’s share price began at the start of 2025, reaching a low of $41.5 (-18.4%) on 9 April, but then gained over the next six months to peak at $69 on 9 October, 7.8% above its value at the beginning of the year. However, it did not hold this price – declining over the next two months before rallying to end the year at $50.5, a 22.6% decline in the year.
