De La Rue Wins Contract to Print Denmark’s New Series

Danmarks Nationalbank has announced that it has entered into an agreement with De La Rue for the production of the upcoming new Danish banknote series. The agreement runs for a minimum of six years, with the possibility of extension, and the new Danish banknotes will be produced at De La Rue's production facility outside London.

‘The agreement is a crucial step towards the launch of the new banknotes in 2028, and we are confident that De La Rue will deliver the right thoroughness and quality. We are very much looking forward to the strategically important collaboration’ said Danmarks Nationalbank's Chief Treasurer, Niels Kaas, after signing the agreement with De La Rue's director, Clive Vacher.

Denmark’s printworks were closed in 2016, and since 2018 Danish banknotes have been produced by Oberthur Fiduciaire. In 2024 Crane Currency was awarded the contract to design and specify the new series.
