Anima Colour — Inspired by Gemstones, Engineered for Security

Oberthur Fiduciaire unveiled two major additions to its Anima™ micro-optics platform – Anima™ Sign and Anima™ Colour – at the recent Global Currency Forum. Both innovations highlighted advances in machine readability and colour versatility, two increasingly important elements in next-generation banknote security, in addition to the integration of all the effects already available in Anima™.

Developed in partnership with Rolling Optics and launched in 2023 (see CN November 2023), Anima is a lenticular-based micro-optics thread that offers a very easily identifiable dynamic effect. The result is instant recognition through dynamic features tailored to each customer.

Anima™ Sign represents one important development in the evolution of micro-lens security threads, namely the inclusion of machine readability. For the first time within the Anima platform, central banks can integrate either infrared or magnetic machine-readable properties directly into the thread.

Moreover, says Oberthur, it is the only micro-lens feature available that can be read by magnetic sensors.
