Bert van Ravenswaaij, the Royal Dutch Mint’s CFO, has been appointed Mint Master, and will take up the position at the beginning of January. He has been at the Royal Dutch Mint since 2017 and is responsible, among other things, for all issues for the collector's market, including commemorative coins and medals.
Bert van Ravenswaaij.Germany's new government has picked Joachim Nagel, a career central banker, as the next President of the Deutsche Bundesbank. He replaces Dr Jens Weidmann, who is stepping down after 10 years in the position.
Bandar bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani has been appointed the new Governor of the Qatar Central Bank. He was formerly President of the State Audit Bureau and replaces Abdulla Bin Saoud Al-Thani, who has been in the position for 15 years.
Victoria Rodriguez, former Undersecretary of Finance, is the new Governor of the Bank of Mexico, replacing Alejandro Díaz de León.
The new Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea is Karamo Kaba. He replaces Lounceny Nabé, who was appointed by the previous President in 2010.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed Obaid Al Fadhli, has been dismissed by the war-torn country’s President, and replaced by Ahmed bin Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Maabq, amid a collapse in the currency. Yemen is split between an internationally recognised government in the south and the Houthi movement that controls most of the north. Each side has a central bank with opposing policies.
Kareem Michael has been appointed the new Governor of the Central Bank of Belize, following the dismissal of his predecessor, Gustavo Manuel Vasquez, who only took up the position in April.
The Board of Directors of the International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) has announced the appointment of Marci Chavez as its new Executive Director. She will replace Eugenie Foster, who will retire at the close of 2021, after serving in the position since 2011.
Marci has worked in the currency industry for more than 25 years, most recently at Currency Research, where she was President from 2011 to 2020. She was integral in the formation of IACA in 2004 and served as Treasurer and later as a member of the Board of Directors until late 2020.
