Øystein Olsen, Governor of Norges Bank, has announced he will retire next February, a year before his second term is due to end.
The Central Bank of Chile has appointed Beltrán de Ramón to the role of General Manager, responsible for the day-to-day operations. He replaces Alejandro Zurbuchen Silva, who has retired.
Jens Weidmann will stand down as President of the Bundesbank at the end of the year, six years before his second term of office is due to expire. He has been in the position since 2011.
The Central Bank of Belize has announced the resignation of the Governor, Gustavo Manuel Vasquez, just four months after he took up the position.
Denny Kalyalya has been reinstated as Governor of the Bank of Zambia, a year after he was dismissed by the former president. He replaces Christopher Mvunga, who resigned after less than a year in office.
Ali Salehabadi has been appointed the new Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, the third appointment to the post this year. He replaces Akbar Komijani, who only assumed the position in July and who, in turn, replaced Abdonasser Hemmati.
Brinks has appointed Mark Eubanks as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. His appointment is part of the company’s CEO succession plan, which will see the appointment of a new CEO in the first half of 2022, at which time the current CEO, Doug Pertz, is expected to be named Executive Chairman of the Board.
Dr Mike Gradwell, formerly with the South African Mint as Executive responsible for technology and product development, has joined Asahi Refining in the role of Mint Director, based in Miami, FL.
The US Department of the Treasury has announced the appointment of Ventris Gibson as Deputy Directory of the US Mint. Following the departure of the Mint Director David Ryder last month, she will serve as Acting Director.

Ron Arends, President and CEO of Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited (CBN) has died at the age of 76 after a long illness. He passed away peacefully at home in his wife Marilou’s arms, in the company of his family.
© IACA.Ron was a professional engineer by training and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. He graduated from the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor of Applied Science and an MBA, and completed the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Business School. Prior to focusing on his studies and starting a successful business career, Ron played professional football in the Canadian Football League. A defensive half-back, he played for the Toronto Argonauts from 1966 through 1970.
He began his business career with 19 years of service with Canada Wire and Cable, holding the position of Executive Vice-President when he left in 1988. From 1989-1994 he worked for Tremco Inc, a subsidiary of B F Goodrich Company, where he rose to the position of President.
He joined CBN in 1994 as President and Chief Operating Officer at the invitation of the Chairman, his brother Doug. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2004, with overall responsibility for the management and operations of CBN and its subsidiaries. Ron led the transformation of the company from a largely domestic security printer to an internationally renowned supplier of secure documents and systems to governments and commercial clients around the world. Under his direction, the company has also become an important fundraiser for governments and the charitable sector through its Lottery and Charitable Gaming divisions.
A statement from CBN said that ‘the company remains strong and, thanks in large measure to the strategic work led by Ron, will continue to prosper. You and he can rest easy knowing the CBN team will carry on the fine tradition of keeping its promises just as he would want us to’.
