The Governor of the Sveriges Riskbank, Stefan Ingves, will step down at the end of this year, to be replaced by the country’s chief financial regulator, Erik Thedéen.

Abdur Rouf Talukder, a senior civil servant at the Finance Ministry, has been appointed the next governor of the Bangladesh Bank. He succeeds Fazle Kabir, who led the Bank since 2016.

Emmanuel Maluke Letete is the new Governor of the Central Bank of Lesotho, and will serve a five year term. He was previously an economic advisor to the Prime Minister, and led the government’s accountability unit. He replaces Retšelisitsoe Matlanyane.

Jean-Claude Kassi Brou has been appointed the new Governor of Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) by the eight member countries of West African Monetary Union. He replaces Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, who left to become Vice President of the Ivory Coast The Bank of the Lao PDR (Laos’ central bank) has named Bounleua Sinxayvoravong as the new Governor. He was formerly with the Finance Ministry, where he was Deputy Minister, and succeeds Sonexay Sitphaxay.

Cindy Scotland, Managing Director of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority since 2000, has been awarded an OBE in HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Annual Birthday Honours List for ‘services to the financial services Industry in the Cayman Islands’.

Ventris Gibson, who has been Acting Director of the United States Mint last October, when she replaced David Ryder, has now been confirmed to the position by the US Senate. A US Navy veteran, she is the first African American to hold the position, and the seventh woman.

ATMIA has announced that Lonnie Talbert will take over as CEO, replacing Mike Lee who retires this month. He was most recently President of the New Mexico Bankers Association and has been a member of numerous ABA committees and the ePay board of directors.

Meanwhile, Mike Lee’s position as President of the ATM Security Association (ASA), which has been in partnership with the ATMIA since 2018, has been filled by David Tente. He will continue as ATMIA’s Executive Director for the USA, Canada & Americas, while assuming the new role.

ATMIA has also announced the election of a new President of the Board of Directors, Chris Chandler, President and CEO at Perativ, a Toronto-based international cash distribution network and cash optimization solutions company. This is his second term as President, the first being from 2015–2018.

Sean Pemberton of Canadian Bank Note Company has been unanimously elected to chair Cash Matters, the civil society movement funded by the International Currency Association (ICA), to support the relevance of cash as an integral part of the payment landscape. It was founded five years ago and now has nearly 1 million followers on social media. Sean replaces Andrea Nitsche who is leaving Giesecke+Devrient, and hence stepping down from Cash Matters.
