Former Prime Minister of Norway and NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg has been appointed for a six-year term as Governor of Norges Bank, replacing Øystein Olsen who is retiring. He won’t take up the position until later in the year, when his term at NATO expires. Deputy Governor Ida Wolden Bache will act as Interim Governor in the meantime.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston has announced the appointment of University of Michigan economist Susan Collins to be its next president, replacing Eric Rosengren. She will take up the position on 1 July.

Rosanna Costa has been named the new Governor of the Central Bank of Chile. She replaces Mario Marcel, who has left to join the country’s new government as Finance Minister.

The long-standing Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, has died at the age of 72. An economist by profession, he had held the position for just over 20 years, following his appointment in 2001.

Rebeca Santos has been appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Honduras, replacing Wilfredo Cerrato Rodríguez.

Adel Al-Sharkas is the new Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, replacing Ziad Fariz, who has stepped down after 10 years in office.

South Sudan’s President has fired the country’s central bank governor, replacing Dier Tong Ngor, whom he had twice appointed to the role, with Moses Makur Deng. The President has now dismissed five central bank governors since January 2017.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has completed the formation of its eight-strong Executive Leadership Team with the appointment of Karen Silk as the Assistant Governor/General Manager of Economics, Financial Markets and Banking. The Bank’s currency function falls under her department. She replaces Christian Hawkesby, who becomes Deputy Governor.

Arie Piet, formerly in charge of the National Bank of Belgium’s printworks, has been appointed Head of Cash, working alongside Marc Vanvooren. Marc will continue to have responsibility for cash issue and circulation, whilst Arie is in charge of production, currency counterfeiting, and the new Currency Expertise Centre, which includes a laboratory for new product development on the euro. Benjamin Olmo, also formerly of the printworks, has been appointed Head of the centre.

Jean-Yves Ray, formerly Group Marketing Director at SIPCA, has joined Noteworthy – the company that designs physical banknotes that represent various denominations of Bitcoin and other digital currencies – as Senior Strategy & Marketing Advisor.

Diebold Nixdorf has announced the appointment of Octavio Marquez as the company’s next President and CEO, succeeding Gerrard Schmid. He is currently Executive Vice President of Global Banking, having joined Diebold Nixdorf in 2014.
