The Central Bank of Jordan has issued the fifth and final note in its new series – the 5 Jordanian dinar (JD). The predominantly red note has an image of the late King Abdullah I, who reigned from 1921 until his assassination in 1951.

The key security features, in keeping with the other notes in the series, are a gold-to-green SPARK® Live image on the front and a MOTION® Switch thread on the reverse, along with tactile features for the visually impaired.
The United States Mint has announced the designs for the third year of the American Women Quarters™ Program. This four-year program features coins with reverse (tails) designs emblematic of the accomplishments and contributions of trailblazing American women. Beginning in 2022 and continuing through 2025, the Mint will issue five quarters in each of these years.
The group of individuals honoured through this program reflects a wide range of accomplishments and fields, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts.
Following consultation with the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum, the National Women’s History Museum, and the Congressional Bipartisan Women’s Caucus, the honorees selected by the US Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, are:
Rev Dr Pauli Murray – poet, writer, activist, lawyer, and Episcopal priest
Patsy Takemoto Mink – the first woman of colour to serve in Congress
Dr Mary Edwards Walker – Civil War era surgeon, women’s rights and dress reform advocate
Celia Cruz – Cuban-American singer, cultural icon, and one of the most popular Latin artists of the 20th century
Zitkala-Ša – writer, composer, educator, and political activist.
The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) is preparing to release the next banknote in its new series – the ‘Heroines and Heroes of the Homeland’. It is the 200 peso note, which pays homage to Martín Miguel de Güemes and Juana Azurduy, heroes of the Argentine War of Independence and the Spanish-American wars of independence, respectively.
The first note in the new series, the new high denomination 2,000 peso honouring the physicians Dr Cecilia Grierson and Dr Ramón Carrillo, was issued in May, followed by the 1,000 peso commemorating the ‘Father of the Homeland’ General José de San Martín in July.
The remaining notes to be issued are the 100 and 500 peso notes. All will co-circulate with the previous series, which was issued in 2016 and features flora and fauna.
The Bermuda Monetary Authority is reported to be planning a new currency series on polymer, to go into circulation in 2025. The current series was issued in 2009.
